| Activity 3- Day Film festival on Environment sustainability |
The Department of Mass Communication & Video Production, DAV College, Amritsar, in association with Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN) organized a 3-Day Film Festival on Environment sustainability from Feb 07 to Feb 09, 2011. The Festival focused on environmental issues with the aim of creating awareness among the youth regarding the protection and conservation of environment, which is nowadays a global problem. It also provided a common platform for the scholars of media and the environment to discuss and find solutions for the environmental problems. Renowned filmmakers and journalist like Ghazala Khan, Executive Producer, Harvest of Grief and Charles Nijman, Radio Journalist OHM Radio, Netherlands interacted with the students and discussed the film technicalities and issues. During the Film festival, Story of Stuff, Eco Dharma, Home, Harvest of Grief, Poison on the Platter, Future by Design, Blue Gold and Neemi- Paani se doodh ki kahani were screened. |

| Activity Two day workshop on Radio Techniques and Formats |
In order to promote Radio as mass medium and familiarize the students with the intricacies of radio production, the Department of MCVP organized two days workshop on Radio Techniques and Formats on October 29-30, 2010.
Renowned names from the field of radio production from different parts of the country participated in the workshop and interacted with the students of the department.
Popular radio announcer with Vividh Bharati Mumbai, Yunus Khan and noted ‘Radio Sakhi’ Mamta Singh were the resource persons at the workshop along with Sanjay Pareek, Radio and TV ad maker, voice over artist and anchor from Jaipur, Rajasthan, renowned Radio Presenter and actor Sukhwinder Sukhi from AIR Jalandhar and noted script writer Charanjit Singh Teja.
During the workshop, the resource persons touched upon various facets of Radio Production and shared insights on Radio Formats, Writing Script for Radio, Radio Commercials, History of Vividh Bharti & AIR, Role and Scope of women in Broadcast World and importance of youth in radio and the future of FM.
During the session, the students listened to archival recording of various prominent personalities like Mahatma Gandhi & Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. |

| Visit to Hindustan Times and Day & Night Channel |
The students of BJMC Semester-II visited the main offices of Hindustan Times and Day & Night Channel at Chandigarh on April 7, 8, 2011. During the two day visit, the students interacted with some of the prominent personalities of the media world including Mr. Ramesh Vinayak, Resident Editor, HT. Besides it, the students had a grasp of few technical hangings at Day & Night Channel also. |
